In Mid February RFK Jr. - notable vaccine sceptic - was confirmed as Secretary of DHHS (Department of Heath and Human Services). Within days of his appointment the committee responsible for guiding the development of the yearly flu vaccine was cancelled, suggesting that his stance with regard to vaccines hadn’t softened.

Then, less than a month into his tenure, he encountered his first health crisis: a measles outbreak severe enough to have caused the first death from the disease in the US in nearly a decade.

While Kennedy has expressed his desire to end the outbreak, calling it a “top priority”, he also maintains that “the decision to vaccinate is a personal one”, and he continues to mention natural remedies like vitamin A and cod liver oil alongside conventional treatments which has concerned many health officials.
